🌸 Nature and Culture Escape: Our Students Celebrate Spring at the Parc de Sceaux
Who said you had to stay in Paris to discover the grandeur of France? Hop on the RER B for a destination fit for kings: the Domaine Départemental de Sceaux .
Between French-style gardens, majestic waterfalls and cherry blossoms, this outing was a real breath of fresh air and culture for our French as a Foreign Language classes.
A masterpiece by André Le Nôtre
The Parc de Sceaux is not just a simple green space. Designed by Louis XIV's famous gardener, André Le Nôtre, it represents the perfection of "French-style" gardens.
For our students, it's an open-air lesson in aesthetics and history:
The Grand Canal: An immense mirror of water that gives an infinite perspective to the estate.
The Great Waterfalls: An architectural spectacle where water dances between sculptures.
The Château: A testament to 19th-century elegance, it now houses the Domaine de Sceaux museum.
The Magical Moment: Hanami (Cherry Blossoms)
It's the star of April! The Parc de Sceaux is home to one of the largest concentrations of Japanese cherry trees in Île-de-France.
Place | Atmosphere | Student Experience |
North Grove | Immaculate white | Calm and serenity for a reading session in French. |
South Grove | Bright pink | The ideal spot for the famous EDAM Paris picnic. |
The Plains | Freedom and space | Perfect for group games and language exchange. |
The EDAM Experience: Learning at Nature's Rhythm
Why take our students to Sceaux? Because the French language is also learned through the senses.
Seasonal vocabulary: Our teachers took advantage of the walk to teach nature vocabulary ( budding, flowering, perspective, bridleway ).
The Linguistic Picnic: There's nothing like sharing French specialties (baguette, cheese, pastries) under the pink cherry trees to loosen tongues and strengthen bonds of friendship between students from all over the world.
Photography and Expression: We organised a small photo contest! Each student had to caption their photo with a poetic phrase in French.
